PostPosted: Thu Jul 17, 2008 4:34 pm Post subject: FYI on Torani vs Davinci

I haven't checked all syrups yet, but heres some food for thought.

1 Bottle of torani vanilla SF syrup contains 14 carbs.

1 Bottle of Davinci Vanilla SF syrup contains 3.5

Torani tells me it's the vanilla extract that makes it like that, so it may not be a issue with the other flavors.

I'm pitching my torani. They had it in the local store so i gave it a shot.

Well KypDurron here's the REAL TRUTH directly off DaVinci and Torani's web site.
I hope if you or any members of your group "Atkins Diet, Low Carb Forum" see this you would let the rest of your group know what the manufacturers actually do claim.
They are listed below.

Torani or DaVinci Gourmet Flavored Syrup Which Would You Choose?

Torani and DaVinci are both great gourmet flavored syrup companies.

DaVinci's Sugar Free White Chocolate mixed with DaVinci's Sugar Free Raspberry always puts a smile on my face.

DaVinci has around 50+ Sugar Free Flavors many of them exotic and or seasonal.

Torani on the other hand is a smaller more "family like" run company and they have 30+ Sugar Free Flavors in Syrups and Sauces.

If you make your own ice cream try Torani's Sugar Free Almond Roca® Syrup as the base flavor, you'll swear you were eating Brown and Haley's World Famous Almond Roca® Candy.

As far as which company has better flavors, you've got to be the judge of that. I like DaVinci's French Vanilla better than Torani's and vise-versa for the Hazelnut.

My absolute favorite is not made in Sugar Free, so I indulge myself when I make a Vanilla Soy milk shake with DaVinci's Classic Carrot Cake Syrup.

When it gets down to making a purchase, there are a lot of great online merchants that can give you a extremely wide choice of flavors compared to say your local Safeway or Walmart. Most on online merchants have a great turnover in product that their stock never collects dust or goes flat.

Shipping is a drawback to buying online. The single bottle will always cost more to ship than a multiple bottle purchase. You really need to break your calculator out to find the best bargain. Most online merchants will let you mix-n-match flavors and most importantly different brands. You may not find that flexibility when dealing direct with a manufacturer. Look for half case (6) or whole case (12) specials.

If Sugar Free is the only type of Gourmet Flavored Coffee Syrup you'll buy, then here's a small heads up. STOCK UP EARLY FOR WINTER!! The time to buy any brand of Sugar Free Gourmet Flavored Coffee Syrup is Spring, Summer or Fall.

Winter in most parts of the USA spells potential disaster when shipping Sugar Free Syrups. It's part rocket science and part common sense or really good shipping insurance. The molecular structure of sugar prevents most syrups from freezing. The molecular structure of Splenda will allow the syrups in glass bottles to freeze, expand and rupture the glass bottle. Making a big sloppy mess in the box that's on the FedEx truck to be delivered to your front door. The major shippers like FedEx, UPS or DHL do not have heated cargo storage compartments in their trucks or warehouses.

I'm a former online merchant of Gourmet Flavored Coffee Syrups, When I sold online my website was www.MorningFlavors.Com

I have since become Gourmet Flavored Syrup Recipe Wrangler.

Caramel: In small saucepan place sugar and water on medium high heat, stirring after one minute to dissolve sugar. Do not stir again. Pour custard into caramel-filled cups or mold and set in a large glass baking pan and place in the middle rack of the oven. Pour hot water into the outer pan to come level with the custard.

Bake 30 minutes for individual cups and 40 minutes for a 1 quart custard mold. Remove from water bath and cool. Let stand 30 minutes at room temperature and then refrigerate several hours before serving.

To serve, dip bottom of custard in a shallow pan with one inch of boiling water. Allow five minutes to loosen and melt the caramel on the bottom. Run a knife around the edge to loosen custard and invert onto serving plate.
